01 / About the course
Most of a good face happens before the colour.
How the skin is cleansed and prepared, which corrector cancels which shade, how much base a face can carry before it starts to look like a mask. Quick tutorials rush past all of it to get to the eyeshadow. This course gives the groundwork the time it needs.
Foundation can only sit as well as the skin underneath allows it to.
I film close enough for you to see the texture of the skin and how much product is on the brush. Mistakes stay in. When a line wobbles or a lash lifts at the corner, you watch it happen and you watch me correct it.
With the basics in your hands, you will be able to:
- Pick products for your own skin, instead of copying someone else's routine.
- Take a daytime face into an evening look in minutes, without starting again.
- Use one method on your own face, a friend's or a bride's.
Talent matters far less than people think. Practice, with someone showing you what to look for, does the rest.

You learn the tools first, then the skin, then each feature in turn, and only then bring it all together into full looks. Workbooks and PDFs sit beside the lessons that need them, so you can print them and keep them by your mirror.

Hi, I'm Sophie
I do beauty makeup for the screen and for private clients, and I teach it the way I was taught.
I trained formally, first on a foundation degree in art and design and then on a first class degree in makeup for media and performance at Arts University Bournemouth. In 2021, aged twenty-one and before I had graduated, I won series three of Glow Up.
My work now covers television, film, music videos, photo shoots and private clients, including Doctor Who, The Crown and productions for the BBC. I judge international competitions such as The Beauty Awards, and I give talks at universities and schools.
I am autistic, and I built this course for people who learn at their own speed. You will hear no background music and see no adverts, and I take no affiliate money. The products in these lessons are ones I buy and use myself, on clients and on my own face.
Since 2025 more than two hundred students have learned with me. I am now starting a PGCE in art and design teaching at UCL, with the aim of lecturing.

Here you can find two options that only differ in how you want to pay. The first option is a one-time payment, and the second is a monthly option with three instalments. The price displayed below is in USD but you can pay with ANY currency.

09 / Before you enrol
The questions I hear most often.
Is the course live?
No. Every lesson is pre-recorded, so you watch when it suits you and return to the harder techniques as often as you need.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. It opens with the tools and the skin, so you need no experience. If you already do makeup, you will still pick up techniques from my university training and my time on set.
How much time should I give it?
There are over six hours of lessons and the pace is yours. An hour a day for a week or one video a week for six weeks both work. Take notes, follow along on your own face or simply watch.
What are the payment methods?
Any debit or credit card that works online, or PayPal. On the three-payment plan the first is taken when you enrol, the second after 30 days and the third after 60. You get the whole course immediately either way.
Can I pay in my own currency?
Yes. The checkout converts it into GBP at that day's exchange rate.
Can I buy it as a gift?
Yes. Buy the course, then email [email protected] with the name and email address of the person it is for, and I will set up the account in their name.
How long do I keep access?
For life. Once your payment or your three instalments are complete, there is nothing more to pay.
What will my level be at the end?
That depends on where you begin. If you have never done your own makeup, you will finish with a routine you trust and a real understanding of skin, tools and products. If you already work with makeup, expect sharper technique and a handful of habits from set that most courses leave out.
What is the refund policy?
You can ask for a full refund within fourteen days of enrolling, as long as you have completed less than 30% of the course.
